Understanding Moments, Plays, and Tools
Updated over a week ago

Repeat's Moments, Plays, and Tools empower you to create personalized messaging that drives revenue. We identify customers in various Moments and provide Tools to capitalize on those Moments through Plays.

What are Moments?

Moments are the core concept of Repeat. These windows of time in the customer journey give high-leverage opportunities to influence customer behavior. Think of them as the times when your marketing goals align with the customer's needs.

Repeat identifies customers who belong in these Moments by analyzing your order history and customer behavior. We push that intel through events and profile properties to your marketing channels.

The Moments that Make Up Repeat

Repeat has several Moments that help you identify customer states:

  • Replenishment: Customers running low on a product they've purchased previously.

  • Cross-sell: Customers primed to try a new product.

  • Subscription Upsell: Ideal candidates for a subscription offer.

  • About to Lapse: Customers are at risk of churning.

What are Plays?

Plays are strategies for engaging customers within Moments. They are guides that show you how to combine Repeat tools to achieve your goals.

Plays fall into two categories:

  • Flows use Repeat events to send customers personalized emails, SMS, or even direct mail.

  • Reusable Blocks make it easy to add Repeat-powered content, like banners or product predictions, to any email you send.

What are Tools?

Tools are the features that enable you to capitalize on Moments. Repeat's Tools surface timing and insights to help you create personalized messaging at scale.

There are a variety of tools you can use:

Integrations

Repeat's integrations with Klaviyo, Postscript, and Attentive provide events and customer profile properties that you can use to personalize flows, campaigns, and customer segments.

Events

Events are triggers sent to marketing channels to initiate flows and automations. They contain metadata that helps you personalize the messaging.

For example, when a customer enters the Replenishment Moment, we fire a "Due to Replenish" event. That event contains information about products the customer is ready to order more of.

Profile Properties

Profile properties are data points that Repeat adds to customer profiles in Klaviyo. They enable segmentation and personalization in your campaigns and flows.

For example, a "Due to Replenish" property tells you if a customer is in the Replenishment Moment. The "Due to Replenish Products" profile property lists the details of products a customer is ready to reorder.

Repeat Carts

Repeat Carts are a shopping experience that is optimized for returning customers.

Each customer has a Personalized Cart customized based on their order history and current state. With Featured Product Carts, you can preload any product from your catalog.

Data & Insights

We provide visualizations and analytics about your customers and products inside the Shopify app. They help marketers strategize to improve customer retention and inform you about Repeat's performance.

How Moments, Plays, and Tools work together

Let's imagine that Repeat identifies a customer is in the Replenishment Moment—they're ready to reorder a specific product. Repeat sends an event to Klaviyo. You can use the Replenishment Reminder Play to create an automated email flow that reminds customers to reorder with a link to their Personalized Cart. The Moment, Play, and Tools combine for a highly relevant and effective reordering flow.
